Director and screenwriter Agustin Diaz Yanes brings us this tale of the battle of good versus evil for the fate of a soul. Our combatants come in the form of two angels, one good, played by Victoria Abril, and the other evil, played by Penelope Cruz.
This Spanish-language movie begins with the heavens in crisis. Both heaven and hell are fighting for control of humankind. Apparently, the soul of a boxer named Manny (Demian Bichir) is the key to winning the ultimate prize. Angel Lola Nevado (Abril) tries to show Manny the benefits of coming to heaven while her counterpart angel Carmen Ramos (Cruz) tempts him with seductive visions of hell, which may not be so bad after all.
The movie had its Spanish release on November 28th, 2001 using its native-language title of Sin Noticias de Dios. The US release has been pushed back from it original date of early November 2002 to the 1st quarter of 2003. (Marty Doskins/BOP)
