The world is cold and covered with ice, and gravity has decided to take a break in Uganda. Has the whole world gone mad? No. Just the laws of nature. Danish director Thomas Vinterberg brings us this view of life in the future.
Claire Danes and Joaquin Phoenix play Elena and John, a couple on their way to sign the papers to make their divorce final. However, when they meet, they realize that even with all the crazy things going on in the world, their love is worth fighting for, and decide to give their relationship a second chance. As they embark on a road trip to find lost love, they become involved in a conspiracy of epic proportions.
[Cue old radio program organ music] Will the lovers find the love they used to have? Will they discover who or what is behind the world's craziness? Will they stay alive after they do find out? Tune in to this film to find the answers.
This is Thomas Vinterberg's third feature film and marks his English-language debut. The film was made with a budget of $10 million. He has won numerous film festival awards for his short films. His second feature film, The Celebration, won the Special Prize of the Jury at the 1998 Cannes Film Festival. (Marty Doskins/BOP)
