I waver over whether it's a horrible movie with funny parts or a funny movie with horrible parts. In the end, I think it will be a film I enjoy over time. |

Really stupid (though that's the point) but intermittently hilarious. |

A good concept with some funny moments but... it's no Office Space. Sometimes stupid really is stupid. |

When it's funny, it's a belly buster. When it's stupid, you resent having to watch it. This is the best example of inconsistently hilarious I have ever discovered. |

Just plain stupid. |
Look, it's a live-action Futurama movie from King of the Hill's Mike Judge! With Luke Wilson as Fry!
Well, not exactly. But the story does bear a strong resemblance, at least on its surface, to the Matt Groening animated series that was so unjustly cancelled by Fox (hey, guess which studio is producing the film!). A young man falls asleep, only to wake up 1,000 years later in the year 3001. It's unclear at this point whether this guy is a pizza delivery man with a sweet dog named Seymour and a jealous brother named Yancy.
Wilson will portray Joe Bowers, an average American who is chosen to participate in a top-secret hibernation program. Ten centuries into the future, Bowers wakes up and finds himself living amongst a society that is so dumbed-down that he is the smartest person alive. (Perhaps they were taken over by a bunch of giant brains.)
Here's hoping that Bowers is able to hook up with some Niblonians who can help him save the day. And that the giant brains decide to leave for no raisin.
Important note: We here at BOP like Mike Judge very much. We adore Beavis and Butthead, King of the Hill and Office Space. We also like Luke Wilson despite Alex & Emma and note that all of this is in good fun.
We do, however, hate Fox for canceling Futurama, Firefly, Keen Eddie, John Doe, The Tick... (Kim Hollis/BOP)
