28 Days Later
Release Date:
June 27, 2003
Before we go any further, this is not a sequel to the Sandra Bullock film 28 Days. This is a science-fiction thriller set in London.
A virus that was accidentally released from a British research facility has decimated the world. It causes people and animals to go into a permanent killing rage. We see the world 28 days later (hence the film's title) where a small group of survivors are trapped in London by the roving mobs. None of the survivors knows how far the destruction has spread and this adds to an already tense situation.
Director Danny Boyle and writer Alex Garland have a connection in film. Garland wrote the novel The Beach and Boyle directed the film version. Reviews from test screenings are generally positive. However, they say not to expect an apocalypse movie where everyone is just wandering around aimlessly. The movie is very violent and disturbing. A few of the stars of the film are Christopher Eccleston, Megan Burns, and Brendan Gleeson. (Marty Doskins/BOP)
