Lots of noise but it's a fairly silly action movie. |
World Wrestling Entertainment's first attempt at making movies will finally hit theatres just over two years after it started filming. John Cena stars as John Titan, a Marine discharged while serving in Iraq. Shortly after returning home his fiance, played by Nip/Tuck's Kelly Carlson, is kidnapped by a local gang. He puts his military training and experience to use going after gang leader Rome (a slumming Robert Patrick) and trying to free his fiance.
Cena is fond of telling people "you can't see me." In the case of this movie, I think it will be a case of people choosing not to see him. In part because he's the least popular face I can remember. There are also reports that WWE's first released movie was thought to be a much better movie by the company, which explains the reshoots and length of time it has taken to be released. The preference for See No Evil also bodes ill for The Marine's potential if the gross and quick exit from theatres of the former is any indication. (Jared Fields/BOP)
