Gere and Molina are great in their roles, but it's the ubelievable daring of Irving that really makes this story fascinating. |

Not nearly as good as I wanted it to be, but still enjoybale. |
The Hoax is the story of Clifford Irving, who reportedly wrote a biography of Howard Hughes with the eccentric billionaire’s input and assistance. He alleged to have been in intimate contact with the pee/poop and finger clip saving recluse even after Hughes reemerged from his self imposed exile to refute the claims. Irving was later sentenced to two and a half years in jail over the incident.
The movie stars Richard Gere as Irving, Julie Delpy as Irving’s mistress, Hope Davis as an employee of the publisher, Alfred Molina and Marcia Gay Harden.
The movie is based on Irving’s account of the incident…which is alleged to be accurate. (D. James Ruccio/BOP)
