Firehouse Dog
Release Date:
April 4, 2007
Rexx is the top dog in Hollywood. He has the best of everything and a movie star’s life. One day, something goes horribly wrong on-set and Rexx is lost, left in an unfamiliar city and presumed dead. There he meets Shane (Josh Hutcherson), a boy with problems of his own. His uncle, a firefighter, is dead and his father (Bruce Greenwood), the new chief is valiantly trying to hold together the dispirited firehouse.
Shane discovers Rexx, (played by four separate dogs whose owner must be a Tolkien Fan as they are named, Arwen, Frodo, Rohan and Stryder), who has a talent for firefighting and the firehouse (named Dogpatch) finds a mascot.
But Rexx’s handlers aren’t so sure he’s dead and are on his trail and there’s an evil arsonist on the loose in the city. With all of this happening, Rexx and Shane are sure to find adventure.
This live action kid’s flick looks to be another inoffensive take on the Boy and his Dog story...although it has a long way to go before it can be compared to Homeward Bound: The Incredible Journey (1993) with voice talent from Michael J Fox, Don Ameche and Sally Fields. Admit it...you cried at the end. (D. James Ruccio/BOP)
