Produced by John Singleton, Illegal Tender is written and directed by Franc. Reyes and tells the story of a Latino family's attempt to gain honor and revenge when they turn the tables on some murderers.
Wilson De Leon Jr. is a hard-working college student with everything going for him. He has a girlfriend who loves him, a mother who adores him and a bright future ahead of him. His life has been happy and mostly sheltered. That all changes when ghosts from his mother's past appear. He'll help her to defend their family - and try to become the man that his father - who was murdered when Wilson was a young man - always hoped he might be.
We also see Wilson's mother's story unfold. Millie's primary goal in life has been to constantly protect her two sons. When she forced to flee from her home after gangsters killed her husband, her only hope is that she can provide her children with everything they could possibly need. Wilson and his mother join forces to protect themselves - and gain some revenge on the men responsible for Wilson Sr.'s death - when an enemy from that past finds them.
