While Lindsay Lohan might be trying to do everything she can to make people loathe her, her agent actually seems to be trying to do right by the young starlet. Since Lohan has essentially committed career suicide with her overexposure and bad behavior, it is really tough on the person who is trying to help her continue to make a living. If Lohan is to survive as an actress to be taken seriously, it is critical that she expand beyond the simple, dumb teen comedies that built her career up in the first place.
To that end, her agent has secured her recent roles in Robert Altman's A Prairie Home Companion, where Lohan actually was quite winning. She also got to act alongside Jane Fonda and Felicity Huffman in Georgia Rule. Breaking the mold even more, I Know Who Killed Me puts her smack dab in the middle of a thriller, which gives Lohan the chance to show some acting chops if she feels up to it.
In I Know Who Killed Me, Lohan plays Aubrey, a girl who is daughter to affluent, influential parents. Aubrey is abducted and mutilated by a serial killer, but somehow manages to escape. She does not come away unscathed, however. She is missing a hand, a leg and plenty of blood. Also, she claims to be not Aubrey, but someone named Dakota. Dakota is the only person with the knowledge of Aubrey's true whereabouts, and she has to work against the clock to save her.
Lohan is working with a relatively unknown director here, but I Know Who Killed Me has a chance to bolster her career. Similarly, it could go the complete opposite direction and bomb it out of the water. Everything turns on her performance - and Columbia's ability to market the project to an audience who is exhausted by her hijinks. (Kim Hollis/BOP)
