Marie, an American film producer, learns that her mother has died and that her body was discovered under strange and as yet unexplainable circumstances. Her mother is located in Russia, Marie's homeland. She makes her way there to try to find what happened. Making things even more weird is the fact that Marie never knew her mother, having been adopted and brought to American in her infancy. The only thing left to Marie is an old farm on a mountainside that apparently was the property of her parents.
Upon arrival, Marie learns that she has inherited the farm. Trouble is, no one is willing to take her there as superstitious locals believe the place to be damned. She finally finds a man who is willing to guide her there, and things get even yet more creepy as he seems to know a lot more about her than a stranger ought to. And, being a stranger, he leaves her high and dry once they arrive at the farm, which means she'll have to explore the grounds all by her little lonesome.
As if everything isn't freaky enough, Marie's surprising discovery is that a man named Nicolai is on the property and has been lured to the place under the same auspices that she was. Stranded, they start to see ghostly visions. And yet again, there's a catch - the ghosts are the spirits of Marie and Nicolai themselves. Sound scary enough? Lionsgate sure thinks so, as they add this to their growing roster of creepy horror flicks. The hope will obviously be that they can cash in on the low budget by using primarily Internet marketing and word-of-mouth. (Kim Hollis/BOP)
