You know those kids movies with adult jokes? Stuff the whole family will find enjoyable? Yeah, this wasn't it. This was strictly for the under-10 crowd. |
Robert Rodriquez returns to the kid-friendly roots of such works as his Spy Kids franchise and The Adventures of Sharkboy and Lavagirl in 3-D after directing one half of Grindhouse with Quentin Tarantino to write and direct Shorts.
In Shorts, the quiet city of Black Falls is a suburban town run by Black Box Unlimited Worldwide Industries Incorporated, which makes communication equipment. All is idyllic until one day Toe Thompson, played by Jimmy Bennett, discovers a wish granting, rainbow colored rock. While trouble ensues when the kids get a hold of the rock, that’s nothing compared to what happens when the adults discover the rock’s power. (D. James Ruccio/BOP)
