I'd like to see a movie called Think For Yourself, but then people would be following my advice and that's not what I want. (Union and Good are gorgeous in this.) |
In addition to being a popular comedian and star of a hit sitcom, Steve Harvey is also a radio personality. The renaissance entertainer is host of The Steve Harvey Morning Show. During his countless hours receiving call-in comments from female listeners, Harvey grew to appreciate how vast the relationship disconnect is between women and men.
Rather than approach the issue cynically, Harvey decided to create his own version of Men Are from Mars, Women Are from Venus. The end result is a very clever relationship book entitled Act Like a Lady, Think Like a Man. In the novel published in 2009, Harvey asserts that men are malleable beings whom women can control as long as they take the time to understand their counterparts. He encourages women to develop awareness of the simplicity of the nature of men and use this to their advantage.
Fast forward three years and Sony’s Screen Gems arm has decided to adapt the book into a feature film. The plan is to create a similar style of multiple romantic story arcs to the 2010 blockbuster, Valentine’s Day. Four couples stuck in various stages of their relationship will learn to employ Harvey’s suggestions in order to advance in their romantic pursuits.
As was the case with Valentine’s Day and the much less popular New Year’s Eve, the cast of Think Like a Man is spectacular. Gabrielle Union, Meagan Good, Taraji P. Henson and Regina Hall portray the women who need to take Harvey’s advice. Michael Ealy, Romany Malco and Jerry Ferrara (you know, Turtle from Entourage) are three of the men being pressured to commit. Harvey himself is also cast, of course.
Perhaps the masterstroke of Think Like a Man, however, is not any of the gorgeous women or extremely talented male romantic leads. Comedian Kevin Hart’s popularity has spiked over the past 12 months thanks in large part to his stand-up routine documentary, Laugh at My Pain. The Think Like a Man ad campaign is a blitz of Hart quips combined with a montage of all the beautiful faces of the cast.
You may not know his name yet, but Hart is poised to be one of the most popular actors in the world over the next few years due to his insane ability to create organic comedy from any situation. BOP fully expects Think Like a Man to become a coronation for the next great comedian. (David Mumpower/BOP)
