Imagine National Lampoon's Vacation with today's Chevy Chase instead of the funny one from 1983. |
Barry Sonnenfeld, the quirky director who helmed such movies as The Addams Family, Men in Black and Big Trouble, returns to the big screen with this family comedy. The screenplay comes from Lowell Ganz and Babaloo Mandell, who have had a history of success in the comedy genre with films like City Slickers, Parenthood, and Fever Pitch.
Robin Williams will star as Bob McNeive, an overworked guy who heads up a dysfunctional American family that is probably very much like yours or mine. When it comes time form the group to take a vacation, he takes the opportunity to load them up into an RV and set out for Colorado. The thing is, he's going to have to try to keep them from learning that he's actually going there to attend a business meeting.
Once in the Rocky Mountains, the McNeive family finds itself in a campground community. There, they will encounter some of the strangest people they will ever know. One such character will be portrayed by Jeff Daniels, a guy who is considered the patron saint of the R.V. world. Meanwhile, Kristin Chenoweth will play his wife Mary Jo, a stay-at-home businesswoman who sells products out of her trailer. (Kim Hollis/BOP)
