Tim Kirkman, director of the 1998 documentary Dear Jesse (a gay man's "love letter" to Senator Jesse Helms), is now helming this indie production that is inspired by a true story.
Loggerheads has three interweaving tales that take place in coastal North Carolina. They all converge around a drifter who lands there and becomes involved in the local effort to save the endangered loggerhead turtles. His connection to this movement forces him to consider whether to once again pull up his stakes or if perhaps it might be time to nest for awhile.
Thirteen's Kip Pardue has the pivotal role of the charismatic drifter, while Michael Kelly (Dawn of the Dead) plays a local motel owner. Also featured are Bonnie Hunt and Tess Harper. (Kim Hollis/BOP)
