In Spring of 2003, both Amanda Bynes and Hilary Duff found success among their target demographic with the teen flicks What a Girl Wants and The Lizzie McGuire movie. Since that time, Duff's movie production schedule has been almost ridiculously full. She appeared in the Holiday 2003 smash hit Cheaper by the Dozen, has A Cinderella Story set for release in Summer 2004, and upcoming projects include movies such as Heart of Summer (aka Raise Your Voice), The Perfect Man, and Outward Blonde.
Where has Ms. Bynes been during that time? Her primary focus has been on her WB television program, What I Like About You. And while that show suffered in the ratings during the 2003-2004 season, it was renewed nonetheless, a show of confidence not often given by the suits at the Frog. Now, Bynes will return to movies in a film that is due to begin filming in the Caribbean in June of 2004.
In Lovewrecked, Bynes will play an 18-year-old girl named Jenny who is thrilled to find that her favorite rock star, Jason, just happens to be a guest at the tropical resort where she will be working over the summer. When both of them are thrown overboard during a cruise, she is even more ecstatic to realize that she is stranded alone on a remote beach with the object of her affection.
It's not long, of course, before complications ensue. Jenny quickly learns that they are actually not lost on a remote island at all, but are actually just down the beach from the resort. Not one to let little pesky things like facts stand in her way, Jenny keeps the truth from Jason so that she might have an opportunity to win him over. Making matters even more thorny, Jenny's rival Brittany also pretends to be shipwrecked, forcing a battle of wits and wills as the girls compete for Jason's attention. (Kim Hollis/BOP)
