If you have seen the trailer, you have seen a briefer, vastly superior version of the movie. The other 90 minutes only bring suffering. |
Remember how romantic Ghost was? Back in a simpler time when Demi Moore and Patrick Swayze were still household names, the movie made clay sculpting seem like foreplay. Even more impressively, it managed to make a rare combined form of lesbianity and necrophilia seem like a sweet love scene.
Fifteen years later, Collateral supercop Mark Ruffalo and Vanity Fair social climber Reese Witherspoon seek to duplicate that success. They have signed on to star in the otherwordly romance, Just Like Heaven (formerly If Only It Were True).
The story involves a storyline familiar to anyone who watched the WB series, Angel. A person rents out an apartment only to discover there is already a resident there. The spirit of the last tenant has decided that she likes the place so much that she chooses to live there even after death. As is wont to happen in such supernatural settings the undead spirit and the human fall in love. Isn't it romantic? (David Mumpower/BOP)
