Everyone hated their high school gym teacher. Few universalities exist, but this is surely one of them. New Line Cinema is poised to capitalize on this truism using the guy who repeatedly cheated on Angelina Jolie as the bait.
Mr. Woodcock makes life hell for a lot of hormonal, pubescent teens who are simply trying to get past an awkward stage of their lives. But that isn't enough for this monster. Oh, no. He has to take it one step farther with one unfortunate bloke. That young man has just discovered that Mr. Woodcock is now dating his mother. The former student must return home and prevent his mother from marrying the evil bastard who once tortured him, and by all signs hasn't changed any. Otherwise, he will be doomed to have a stepfather named Woodcock.
The brilliance of this production is in the casting. Billy Bob Thornton, fresh off his role as a coach in Friday Night Lights, will again play a mentor of youths. It's just that he won't be trying to improve their lot in life this time. (David Mumpower/BOP)
