Michael is a military man whose life maintains the same careful control that he experiences in his job. He has a perfect family, including a lovely wife named Sarah and two sweet daughters. His career in the military has been highly successful, setting Michael in stark contrast to his younger brother.
Jannik is a drifter who spends his days living just on the borderline of the law. Naturally, every family has its black sheep, and between Michael and Jannik, it's clear which one of them falls into that category.
Soon, though, Michael is sent off to Afganistan to participate in a mission for the United Nations. When word comes to his family that he is missing in action - and presumed dead - Jannik shows a great deal of maturity, taking responsibility both for himself and for his brother's wife and children. As time passes, Jannik and Sarah begin to find solace in one another's company and their feelings turn into something much more significant than simple shared sympathy.
Naturally, nothing can ever have quite that easy of an ending. It is suddenly discovered that Michael is actually alive, and when he returns home, the trauma he has experienced as a prisoner in the mountains of Afghanistan has proven to have a deleterious effect on his mental health. Everything changes for both men and the woman they love. (Kim Hollis/BOP)
