This is a surprisingly tender film, with nice chemistry between Garner and Olyphant. |

Surprisingly okay thanks to good work by Garner and, in particular, Smith - who makes the movie funnier than it likely would have been. |

I think I fell asleep at one point and woke up by the end, but I didn't feel like I missed anything. |
After focusing primarily on screenplays such as Erin Brockovich, 28 Days, Ever After and In Her Shoes, Susannah Grant will make the move to the director's chair as she helms this romantic comedy from her own script. The movie centers on a young woman who is left heartbroken and stunned when her fiancé suddenly passes away. Even worse, she finds that things become even more complicated when she learns that he kept a number of secrets from her.
After finding some decent success in the genre with 13 Going on 30, Jennifer Garner will have the lead role. Starring alongside her is Deadwood's inscrutable Timothy Olyphant, who will portray a friend of Garner's fiancé. After the friend's death, he starts to become close to Garner as he helps her struggle to understand what happened. Also onboard is every fanboy's favorite, Kevin Smith - in a speaking role, even.
The challenge for romantic comedies these days is to see if they can somehow set themselves apart from a genre that has become filled with unoriginal ideas and rote stories. Given the talent aboard, we hold out a fair amount of hope. (Kim Hollis/BOP)
