National Security
Release Date:
January 17, 2003
No, this isn't some kind of high-tech espionage flick. It has to do with security guards. Martin Lawrence and Steve Zahn are the stars and director Dennis Dugan of Happy Gilmore fame helms this picture. It is written by the team of David Ronn and Jay Scherick.
The story of the film is kind of based on the story of motorist Rodney King, who was beaten a few years by some Los Angeles police officers. A white ex-cop/current security guard (Zahn) teams up with the African-American man (Lawrence) he was falsely accused of beating. This isn't just a story about justice; they are trying to stop some people that are trying to kill them both.
Lawrence is finally making it to the big time with this film. He reportedly will be paid more than $20 million to star in this film. That should definitely put him up there with the best-paid actors in the business. Hopefully, the studio will reap the rewards of his popularity at the box office. (Marty Doskins/BOP)
