There is a frightening phenomenon taking place every single minute in Latin America. Every 60 seconds, a person is abducted. It is this staggering statistic that is the backbone of the thriller Secuestro Express.
Carla (Mia Maestro) and Martin (Jean Paul Leroux) are an upper-crust appearing couple who have just emerged from a grand night of dancing and partying. As they are on their way home, they come into contact with three men who make their money by kidnapping unwitting young adults and holding them for high-priced ransoms from wealthy families. Carla and Martin become their latest victims.
The evening turns to terror as they are sent careening through Caracas, Venezuela as their captors wait for Carla’s father to give them 20 thousand dollas, an amount considered small for a wealthy Caraqueno, but the equivalent of five years of wages for a Venezuelan minimum wage-earner.
