Not Another Teen Movie

I can tell you everything you need to know about this film by stating that the previous title was Ten Things I Hate About Clueless Road Trips When I Can't Hardly Wait to Be Kissed. Clever, eh? Yes, we are witnessing typical Hollywood thinking in action as some clever person (and I’m grudgingly not being sarcastic here) has seen how much money teen movies have made, and how much money Scary Movie I and II have made, and decided to try to put the two hands together.
Our teen parody movie will undoubtedly follow the basic tenets of recent teen movies, using one as the main parody. My guess would be that She’s All That or 10 Things I Hate About You will be the main jumping-off point, similar to how Scream was the basis for Scary Movie. From there, we’ll get the usual scattershot volume of parodies, with signal-to-noise ratio on the jokes determining overall long-term success of the film, but the amount of humor in the teaser/trailer being almost the sole determinant for opening weekend performance. We do know from Scary Movie’s $42 million debut that a parody can open better than any of the films it mocks if its commercials are funny enough, so I can’t express enough how important the ad campaign is to determining the opening.
