Less subtle than a bullet to the brainpan. More painful than same. |
This contemporary drama is a story of love and redemption, set in the world of the African-American church and gospel music. The movie stars Boris Kodioe (Love & Basketball) as a young singer who sees tragedy strike, which causes him to turn his back on both God and his father's church. Years later, he returns and finds the once impressive congregation in chaos, he discovers that the problems are arising because his childhood nemesis is creating a "new vision" for the church.
Along with Kodioe, other stars in the film include Idris Elba (The Wire), Nona Gaye (The Matrix), Tamyra (American Idol), Clifton Powell (Ray), Omar Gooding and Keisha Knight Pulliam. Gospel superstars Donnie McClurkin and Hezekiah Walker also make their feature debuts.
The movie will feature a soundtrack with music from some of the biggest names in urban gospel. Yolanda Adams, Martha Munizzi and Delores Winans will all have songs in the film. Look for this movie to be a potential break-out hit upon its release, since it definitely targets a unique, strong audience that is heavily underserved. (Kim Hollis/BOP)
