Shedding the working title Dubbed Action Movie, Kung Pow!: Enter the Fist offers a promising twist on the movie-spoof genre.

Writer/director Steve Oedekerk heads the innovative-sounding project. Kung Pow ! inserts freshly-produced material of Oedekerk and his fellow actors into an existing kung fu movie (Savage Killers/Tiger and Crane Fists), to form a tale of a bungling martial arts master. The result might be a sort of cinematic Mad-Libs.

Though perhaps without realizing it, movie audiences have most likely been exposed to Oedekerk's off-the-wall sense of humor. He has leant his writing talents to Nutty Professor II: The Klumps as well as the two Ace Ventura movies. His "steve odekerk.com" television project was wonderfully creative yet went largely unnoticed.

Box office potential cannot be gauged at this time. Few details of the film aside from its premise are known. It will be interesting to see how much weight 20th Century Fox decides to put behind the project. The release has already been bumped a few times, since its original opening date of summer 2000).
