Before he passed away, Christopher Reeve was hard at work directing an animated feature that looks to have a lot of heart. Since that time, Dan St. Pierre and Colin Brady have picked up the torch as they have worked to continue the film and see it released in theaters.
The charming-sounding story centers on a young boy who takes it upon himself to travel all the way across the country. He has a mission - to return Babe Ruth's bat to the man before the deciding game of the 1932 World Series. As he goes, our young hero meets a variety of characters who assist him on his quest.
A fine voice cast has been signed to the project, including Rob Reiner, Whoopi Goldberg, William H. Macy, and New York Yankees manager Joe Torre. The movie sounds as though it should be a whimsical project that will intrigue both kids and sports fans alike. The fact that it was a pet project for Reeves should generate a fair amount of interest as well. (Kim Hollis/BOP)
