Director Peter Cattaneo follows up his successful outing of The Full Monty with this comedy set in a prison. The story is about a group of prison inmates that put on a musical as a cover for their planned breakout.
Jimmy (James Nesbitt) and his pal Rudy (Lennie James) are in prison for a failed bank robbery. They find out that the warden (Christopher Plummer) has an interest in musicals, and has even written one of his own. They take advantage of this and put their escape plans into action.
It seems that reviews of this are somewhat disappointing. They're not really complaining about the movie as much as the director. They think that Cattaneo should've gone in a different direction from The Full Monty; however, the movie is supposed to be pretty funny and Plummer shows us that he's no slouch at comedy. It sounds like audiences should enjoy this film. (Marty Doskins/BOP)
