Return to Never Land
Release Date:
February 15, 2002
Disney has been doing well with direct-to-video sequels, so why not take a shot at the 1953 classic, Peter Pan? But this time, instead of video, this film will see a theatrical release.
The story is set many years after the events of the first movie. During the air raids in London of World War II, Captain Hook swoops down with his flying ship and kidnaps Wendy's daughter, Jane, and Peter Pan has to rescue her from his evil grip.
The animation looks to be a combination of traditional hand-drawn cels and computer animation. If you've seen any of the newer direct-to-video releases, like Lady and the Tramp II, you'll know what I mean. The characters are hand-drawn, while moving vehicles are computer-generated to create smooth movement.
I'm sure the Disney purists out there cringe when these sequels are released, but Peter Pan: Return to Neverland is likely to be enjoyed by an entire new generation of film watchers. (Marty Doskins/BOP)
