Super Troopers
Release Date:
February 15, 2002
This fast-paced comedy is the second feature film from the NY and LA based comedy group Broken Lizard. It was screened at the 2001 Sundance Film Festival.
The movie is about a group of Vermont State troopers stationed near the Canadian border. They spend their days messing with speeders, taking impounded cars for joyrides, and sparring with their enemy -- the local police force.
When they find out their jobs are in jeopardy due to budget cutbacks, they decide to step it up a notch and make sure they prove their worth. In doing so, they happen across a huge drug ring running across the border with Canada. The local cops get wind of this and decide that they're going to crack the case first and put the troopers out of business permanently.
The reviews for this film have been overwhelmingly positive. Fox Searchlight was so pleased with the film that they bought the distribution rights for $3 million. If that's any indication, it should receive a moderate release, not just at your local independent film venue. (Marty Doskins/BOP)
