A good number of films recently have sought to tap into the idea of getting into the "underground" of a scene, the most famous and successful of which was The Fast and the Furious, which dove into the world street racing (The less said about You Got Served and the underground world of team dancing, the better). Crossover shines its spotlight on underground street basketball, a no-holds-barred version of the sport with big money on the line in every game.

Scouts and agents have their eyes on the players in these guys for the NCAA and the NBA, with the players showcasing sick skills and showmanship. For some it's a lifestyle, but others see it as just a means to an end. Noah Cruise is a talented baller, but he wants to use his college scholarship to pursue a medical degree. An unscrupulous agent (played by a branching-out Wayne Brady) is putting the screws to him in ways that could jeopardize his chosen career, while at the same time he's also getting pressure from his best friend and fellow hustler Tech, who has scores to settle with another player named Jewelz (Phillip Champion, famous from And1 videos). It's a fairly standard trope for a "kids-from-the-hood" movie, which will have the added enticement of what the filmmakers hope is spectacular game footage. (Reagen Sulewski/BOP)
