If you enjoyed the sense of humor in Knocked Up, you'll enjoy Superbad. |

Maybe the apex of the raunchy/sweet comedy genre. McLovin *does* sound like a sexy cheeseburger. |

Funny, often very funny, entry in the teen sex genre. Better than American Pie. |

Hilarious. Not as perfect as I hoped, but hilarious. |

Funny top to bottom. I am curious whether or not Michael Cera can play more than one character. |
Even though it's filled with blockbusters like Spider-Man 3, Shrek the Third and Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End, 2007 may just be the Summer of Seth Rogen. He stars in the highly anticipated sex comedy Knocked Up in early June. Two months later, he also appears in Superbad, a movie for which he co-wrote the screenplay. And for those of you who are keeping score, Rogen is a mere 25-years-old. He's already had writing credits on solid television shows like Undeclared and Da Ali G Show.
The two leads of Superbad are pretty significant up-and-coming young comedy stars in their own right. Michael Cera is best known for playing young George-Michael Bluth on the all-too-short-lived Arrested Development. As for Jonah Hill, many people are going to best recognize him as the "Ask Me About My Wiener" guy from the hilarious Accepted, but he's also had some notable roles in films like The 40 Year-Old Virgin and Grandma's Boy. In Summer of 2007 alone, he appears in Knocked Up, Evan Almighty, Rocket Science and this film.
Cera and Hill play Evan and Seth (who probably bear no resemblance whatsoever to Rogen and his co-writer Evan Goldberg), two teenage guys who are on the brink of graduating high school. Through the years, their friendship has turned into something ridiculously co-dependent. Now that they've gotten into different colleges from each other, they're forced to consider what a life apart will be like. Superbad tells the story of one glorious night where they try to reverse their lifelong losing streak as they set out to score alcohol with a party in an effort to score with the ladies. It's the kind of night that is utterly dreadful as it happens, but also one that they'll remember for the rest of their lives.
Superbad is receiving an excellent marketing push from its studio, including an uproarious trailer. It should easily capture a similar audience to Accepted - and if Knocked Up is a big hit, it will be pushed in an even more profitable direction. (Kim Hollis/BOP)
