I just like Woody's movies these days. I still think it's a shame more people didn't love Scoop as much as I did. |

Far from Annie Hall, but worth a look. |

It's interesting right up until you realize it wasn't really about anything. More annoying the second time around. |

I would have enjoyed this movie so much more without the brutal narration. It's like a Driver's Ed film in this regard. Yikes. |

Rebecca Hall is completely overlooked in discussion of this movie. It would have been great save Woody Allen's overly deliberate dialogue. |
Alright, perverts. This is the film you have been awaiting since Wild Things grew stale. BOP knows that you’ve worn out your copy of Bound, and you found Henry & June too artsy. So, you have been counting down the days until Hollywood made another major motion picture that features hot actresses doing stuff with and to each other. As long as you don’t get all judgmental about the source (it’s daughter-loving Woody Allen’s film), we have the movie for you.
Vicky Cristina Barcelona features hot girl-on-girl action between Penelope Cruz and Scarlett Johansson. There is also some sort of movie story thrown in there about a painter experiencing difficulties in a new relationship due to the unexpected arrival of his ex-girlfriend. That part of the film features accomplished actors like Javier Bardem and Patricia Clarkson. But BOP knows you for the superfreak you are. You couldn’t care less about the fact that this movie is receiving glowing reviews. You are wholly apathetic to the idea that this is Woody Allen’s comeback film, the one that re-launches him as a respected auteur the way that Match Point and Scoop should have but didn’t. You just don’t want to know that sort of stuff. You are all about the cheap thrills and boy howdy, does Vicky Cristina Barcelona ever get the job done in that regard.
Penelope Cruz and Scarlett Johansson. Together. This movie might break Spider-Man 3’s opening weekend record. (David Mumpower/BOP)
