InDigEnt is an abbreviation of Independent Digital Entertainment, an effort started in 1999 and financed by the Independent Film Channel to produce ten low-budget digital films. This efort attempts to take advantage of new digital technology by financing and providing support to film makers who are willing to make a venture into this form of filmmaking. So far, seven films are on record as being in one form of production or another. one of those, Final, will be rolling into limited release in New York and Los Angeles on December 7th.
Originally premiering at the Seattle Film festival, Final is directed by actor Campbell Scott (Dying Young, Singles) and stars Denis Leary and Hope Davis. Leary stars as a man who wakes up from cryogenic freezing 400 years in the future without any real memory of what has happened to him. He begins to develop a relationship with a therapist, Davis, who is trying to help him piece together the events surrounding his freezing and subsequent incarceration. (Walid Habboub/BOP)
