Cate Blanchett stars as the title character in this film about a romance during World War II. This film is based on the best-selling novel by Sebastian Faulks. She plays a Scottish woman who works with the French Resistance hoping to rescue her lover, a missing RAF pilot. Once there, she decides not to leave and finds herself struggling to help the country.

Not only is this a romance, it's also a historical movie that shows the situation in France during the War. We see the price paid by many Frenchmen to live in "Free France."

As you can tell from the release date, Warner Brothers hopes to drum up some Oscar buzz with this one. Maybe Ms. Blanchett will be able to add the Oscar to an already impressive list of awards. (Marty Doskins/BOP)
