On the surface, the background for Drumline would make it seem that it was yet another of the products of grand integrated multimedia companies. The star of Drumline is Nick Cannon, who has made his reputation as Nickelodeon personality. The only catch is that Drumline is being made by Fox 2000, a division of 20th Century Fox. Other recognizable cast members include Orlando Jones and Zoe Saldana (Crossroads, Center Stage).

Drumline refers to the drumming section of a marching band. The plot of the movie has Cannon's character as a street drummer from Harlem trying to get acclimated at Southern University. One imagines that the standard fish-out-of-water scenario will be attempted, with romance and hilarity ensuing. One can also hope (or dread, depending on one's tastes) for some sequences attempting to do justice to the abilities and routines of top-level marching bands.
