Touchstone Pictures is releasing High Heels and Low Lifes on approximately 175 screens. Minnie Driver and Mary McCormack star as two best friends who accidentally overhear a heist taking place in their neighborhood. The two are unhappy with the state of their own lives, and conspire to blackmail the gang responsible for the heist, but soon things spin out of control as the friends get immersed deep in the world of crime. They are forced to use their wits and the power of their friendship to lure the criminals into a trap.
The film itself is classified as a comedy/crime caper/romance. The decision to release the movie in the higher number of theaters rather than test-screening it first seems to have come on rather quickly, and it doesn't appear to have had enough time to develop the sort of buzz that would enable it to make a big splash.
