The Battle of Shaker Heights
Release Date:
August 15, 2003
Limited release
The Battle of Shaker Heights, winner of the second Project Greenlight contest, tells the tale of 17-year-old Kelly Enswiler, whose passion in life is re-enacting World War II battles. When he meets fellow re-enactor Bart Bowland, Kelly’s life takes on a new direction, as Bart shows him how to transfer the skills he uses in the mock battles to his real life. Kelly finds a new satisfaction in his everyday existence, until reality collides with his fantasy war games, and he must find new ways to deal with his problems.
The Battle of Shaker Heights is due for a limited release beginning August 15, 2003. The first Project Greenlight film didn’t do land-office business on the art-house circuit, but that is only a small indication of what this project may do, as differences in subject matter and execution will impact the film’s drawing power. Still, one would not expect The Battle of Shaker Heights to break out of the limited arena, and it will probably only see a moderate run in the theatres before being available at your local video store.
