This remake of the Patrick Dempsey teen comedy Can't Buy Me Love features an African-American cast. The tale centers on a brilliant high-school senior named Alvin who maneuvers one of the In crowd, Paris, into posing as his girlfriend in exchange for fixing her mother's car, which she wrecked. But as is often the case in these disguised reality tales, Alvin lets the charade get out of hand, and endangers his true friendships, as well as a shot at truly winning Paris' heart, by acting the big-headed jerk. Will Alvin pull it together in time to not only win Paris, but salvage his relationships with his friends and score that scholarship? If you don't already know the answer...then hey, won't you be surprised!

The original film has enjoyed rather a nice run both on cable and home video, so there may be a built-in audience to catch this version in the theaters. Provided WB supports the film with a solid marketing campaign, this has decent break-out potential, especially during Christmas break.
