This light-hearted, feel-good movie is sure to leave you in a better mood when you leave the theater than when you came in.

We follow Finbar McBride (Peter Dinklage), a little person who just wants to be left alone. Through a series of events, he inherits an abandoned train depot in rural New Jersey. Trains have always been a passion of his so he promptly takes up residence there trying to shut himself off from society.

However, every morning, a friendly and talkative man named Joe (Bobby Cannavale) sets up his portable coffee cart next to the rarely used depot. He wants to be Finbar's friend because, for reasons unknown, Joe doesn't have any friends. This unusual twosome is joined by another local resident, Olivia Harris (Patricia Clarkson), an artist whose son died not long ago and is now going through a painful divorce. She's also alone and looking for people to be lonely with.

Writer/director Tom McCarthy makes his feature film debut with this movie. And what a way to make yourself known. The film was hugely popular during its screenings at the 2003 Sundance Film Festival, where it won several awards. Miramax knew it had a winner and picked up the distribution rights for $1.5 million while at Sundance. The film should find more acclaim from critics and audiences as it makes it way through the film festival circuit and to an independent film venue near you. If you're feeling down in the dumps, this movie just may be the ticket to brighten up your day. (Marty Doskins/BOP)
